Do you need more flexibility? What if I told you you’re probably tight because you’re actually not “tight” enough? Young female athletes tend to lose flexibility secondary to loss of stability as they grow. Muscles can either be placed under tension as the bones grow or they protectively contract in attempt to control the larger skeleton. It’s harder to measure or feel loss of stability so the consequence is you begin to recklessly stretch things that “feel tight”. A proper stretching routine should enhance body stability as well as flexibility. I will show you what I mean. In this week’s video, I demonstrate my favorite active flexibility exercises for softball players.
