I have a 10yr old pitcher that is trying to learn forearm fire but we are struggling on getting her to keep her arm with her hand palm up threw the pitch. She tends to turn her hand about a quarter turn from the point of drop to the end of the pitch. The guy who is also trying to help her pitch keeps saying she is “muscling” the ball instead of whipping the ball. Any idea on drills to help fix this mechanical issue?
Any help would be appreciated thanks.
Frustrated Father
My best advice is if the “feel it” drill doesn’t work, don’t be afraid to really break it down into small movements, and not move forward until she gets it. It will be tedious and feel like it’s taking forever, but will end up taking less total time in the long run than continuing to pitch incorrectly.
