Phil,
Your post is a simple but very effective explanation of pre-motion.
When you start with a new young pitcher what would be your first 3-4 teaching points after teaching this pre-motion?

John:
You may not believe this but in our ten week beginners clinic the pre-motion does not get taught until 6 to 7 weeks in. We break the pitch down from the release zone back, working our way to full motion, which includes the pre-motion. If it turns out that your young pitchers are already at the point of full motion the next instruction would be our reach, track, fire and drive sequence. If you search our Fastpitchpower archives you will find a post on that sequence. Thanks for visiting us and commenting. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us in the future.

Phil,
Do you have an article or video posted showing how you break the pitch down from the release zone back?
Thanks in advance for sharing information.

John:
Unfortunately no. Our clinics cover this instruction over and 8 to 10 week period. There is no single post which would adequately provide this kind of information. If you go through our archives you should be able to piece together the drills that will take you from forearm fire (the release) all the way to the full pitch. If you want to discuss this further you can email me at phil@fastpitchpower.com
