Home Workouts

Hi friends! Today I am bringing you a video with some suggestions on how you/your pitcher can stay sharp in the off-season. As we get further into winter and then throw covid into the mix, it can be really hard for a lot of pitchers to find a place to pitch. But you don’t need a full distance pitching area or a facility to work on some of your skills. Check out todays video to see what you can work on at home!

That’s funny. Last winter my son got his daughter Allison a new net backstop to practice hitting into and pitching against.
I had her throwing into it and after about 5 or so pitches, I said I don’t like it, you can’t hear how hard the ball is hitting the net when it make that “whoosh” sound. So I hung a tarp over the net. I want to hear how hard the ball is hitting the tarp. I use an old carpet hanging from the ceiling in my print shop that I use for my archery range (traditional – not compound bow) back stop and I can hear the pop of the carpet so I know how hard I’m throwing the ball. Long story, but pitching myself to be able to better understand the mechanics and motion that goes into pitching in order to better teach my grand daughter. Combining this with my knowledge of Karate (2nd degree black belt) knowing how to distribute weight, lower center of gravity and use the legs for power and all that stuff.
Now we just started a new year and will be getting started back into pitching 1 – 2 nights a week.
We have some work to do, she got into a bad habit of turning her shoulders so I’m going to have to put her “on the wall.”
Anyway, Happy New Year to all of you a Fastpitch Power. Will keep in touch from time to time.
